Stunning 1984 Aston Martin V8 Series 4 Oscar india, manufactured from 1969 to 1989.The series 4 "Oscar India" specification was introduced in October 1978 at the Birmingham international Motor Show. Visually the car remained similar to previous series, however the former scoop on the bonnet gave way to a closed "power bulge", while a spoiler was integrated into the tail. Most Oscar India cars were equipped with a Chrysler automatic transmission but only a few benefitted from the locking torque converter effectively giving 4 speeds, with wood trim fitted for the first time since the DB2/4 of the 1950s. Just 352 Oscar India models were built from 1978 through 1985.
This ‘OI’ V8 forms part of a collection owned by an AMOC enthusiast and is presented in excellent condition with Salisbury Blue paintwork with matching blue carpets, and cream leather interior.
Being one of the last series 4 cars produced it benefits from the very desirable ‘580’ S spec engine, full wood trim, carburettors, rare adjustable steering column, and an automatic gearbox (with the desirable locking torque converter, giving 4 speed essentially) fitted with the optional factory quick shift upgrade to improve performance and driveability. The gearbox and torque convertor have just been replaced/rebuilt by a known specialist.
First registered on 22 Jun 1984 most of the miles covered by this car were in just the first 4/5 years of ownership and this car has since benefited from extensive work to both body, chassis and engine and was in storage from the late 90’s until 2008. This car has had regular use since the completion of re-commission work in late 2008.
No expense has been spared in maintaining this car and past work includes: complete bare metal respray, suspension rebuild, complete chassis refurbishment & sills replacement (including suspension mounts, jacking points etc) prop shaft replacement, gearbox and torque converter rebuild/replacement, electrics rewired/replaced,
Recently it has received: a new uprated JMB water pump, all new hoses (engine, brakes, and fuel), new fuel pump, uprated larger radiator, electrics re-wired/replaced with new alternator, starter, fuse and relay boxes and headlamps, the original gearbox has just been fully refurbished (by a known specialist with guarantee) complete with new uprated torque convertor. The gearbox has the factory shift upgrade option giving superb response. New rear windscreen costing £2500.00,the wheels and brakes are also fully refurbished/uprated with recent attention to disks, calipers, ‘Pagid road/race’ pads and new AVON period tyres on refurbished rims.
A comprehensive history file comes with the car showing work done complete with photographs.
As a result the car is in excellent condition and drives both beautifully and extremely quickly, past and present MoT test certificates and service booklet. It is taxed and tested.
